Mixed Media Self Portraits

23rd August,

I've not posted a Mixed Media post for a while, but just couldn't go past the vibrant characters that burst out of the upholstery samples last week. Some had a base of acyclic paint whilst others were drawn straight onto the fabric with oil pastels. Artist's had photos of themselves to refer to. What I discovered was that the final pieces seem to hold the qualities of the individual. Intensity of lines, shapes and colours certainly reflected personalities – which to me is very special.

Here are only a few. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

  1. faces are always appealing arent they? Nice colours and expressions makes me want to get out some wax crayons and resist and play. Good work!

    1. Thanks Kat. What is so lovely is that the marks and the overall 'feel' of the portraits really reflect the qualities of the art-makers - softness, vibrancy, quietness, the list goes on... Really beautiful.
