Happy 21st Sussex Neighbourhood House

A 21st birthday party. What to give? What to make?

I introduce the Creative Kids to paste-ups and wonder if we can craft our gifts to Sussex Neighbourhood House, in this medium.

Tomorrow is a tea party.

What better than a tea cup,

cakes,

lots of cakes.

lots and lots of cakes.

The gift of ones own art
(this artist's own character)

A suitable card,

a couple of favourite things,

balloons

and a secret door, with a key to the secret.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
SUSSEX NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSE

  1. Great idea! Are the paste-ups permanent?

  2. Non-permanent Chiara - just good old fashioned paper applied with flour & water paste. Will leave them up for as long as the House enjoys them (or grows out of them :)

    1. Oh, I was hoping they might be there for a while. I like them! Was thinking of doing something similar in a different venue and wanted to know if it would last. Does wallpaper glue make them any hardier?

  3. To be honest I am not sure. From what I know wallpaper paste will be very similar to flour and water (but with a fungicide - unless you got a non-toxic variety). Have a look at drab art blog for some really insightful, honest info on the art of paste-up - there is also a really good recipe for paste which includes sugar, which I am going to give a go too. I use salt to stop the mould, so you could try including that too. http://drab-art.blogspot.com.au/2009/07/quick-how-to-for-paste-up.html Good luck, I look forward to hearing how you go!
