Kids Create a new name for 2014

This year I will be facilitating Kids Create at Sussex Neighbourhood House. It is a new group merging Kids Shed & Creative Kids together. Unfortunately we no longer have the use of the old bus depot (for Kids Shed) but fortunately we can move the group back to Sussex Neighbourhood House. Similar to Kids Shed young artists will be able to work independently on projects of their choice, with materials of their choice. To bring it closer to Creative Kids I have decided to 'assign' a topic of exploration for each term - for example 'family'. Artists would then be invited to artistically explore the concept (of 'family') in any creative forming of their choose. All forms of creative expression are welcomed from visual arts to performance and anything in between!

To enrol contact Sussex Neighbourhood House when they re-open Tuesday, 14 January 2014

The group will begin term 1 2014 on 22 February, for 8 weeks.

Kids' Shed Street Picnic Exhibition

A little delayed in posting this (the event was on December 7). Perhaps my new years resolution is to write posts, complete them and post them closer to the date.

The 2013 Sussex Neighbourhood House Street Picnic.
What a great day.

Kids' Shed artist 'K' was up early helping set-up.

The week before the Shed was very busy with artists' practicing performances, works completed and artist statements considered.

All pieces to exhibit were labeled and carefully packed.

The day of exhibition finally came. We were invited to exhibit our work from 1-2pm.

After two trips from the Shed to Sussex NH the artists' were ready to curate and install their show. I wish I had a photo of volkswagen, she was overflowing with art-work, easels and cushions! 'K' is assisted by her friend 'E'.

The North Studio was a hive of activity as artist's statements were completed, exhibiting spaces set-up and wearable art outfits fitted.

It was then onto Rising Street (closed off to traffic) to present our Wearable Art parade
and 'V's' puppet performance.

It was then inside to share our show with our many guests.

Our manager Suzanne took some lovely photos.

Thanks to all family and neighbourhood friends who came to support our fabulous artists.

Also a very big thank you to my lovely assistant Emily.
You have been wonderful.
